FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to be a United Methodist to live here?
No, anyone can live in Wesley Hall regardless of religious affiliation. Residents should know though that Wesley Hall is managed by The Wesley Foundation, the official United Methodist campus ministry at ASU and worship and program opportunities will come from a United Methodist perspective. If you would like to know more about the UMC please visit umc.org.
Do I have to be a Christian to live here?
No, again, any ASU student is welcome to apply to live at Wesley Hall. However, we expect that many students who live in Wesley Hall will have Christian backgrounds. We want to respect all faith backgrounds, however, all of our programs and activities will come from a Christian perspective.
Am I required to participate in religious activities if I live here?
Residents will not be required to participate in programs and activities, including worship services and other religious activities put on by Wesley Hall staff, The Wesley Foundation, and Tempe First United Methodist Church. We hope, however, that residents will want to participate in the Wesley Hall community. Our religious activities are what set us apart from living in an ASU residence hall and we expect this facility will attract residents who want to be involved in religious activities.
Where will I get my meals?
In addition to full size kitchens on each floor of Wesley Hall, residents will be able to participate in ASU meal plans and eat at a number of dining options on campus. The closest dining hall is, “Pitchforks,” located in the Memorial Union, a short walk from Wesley Hall. There are also a number of off campus dining options within a short walk from Wesley Hall, including restaurants in the Mill Avenue District.
Where can I park?
Wesley Hall will not offer any parking for residents. Residents will be able to purchase an ASU parking pass and park in any of ASU’s overnight lots. You can contact ASU’s Department of Parking and Transportation for more information. Wesley Hall is also located near a number of bus, shuttle, and light rail routes.
